Andre Dardy says
In this time of mourning it is not easy to conjure the necessary words to accurately describe the feelings one has at this time or event. My grandmother, known as Nan or Nana when I was a child, was a wonderful person who cared for myself and siblings of mine including cousins. She will be remembered by me as a very honorable woman first of all as she had been married to my grandfather for over 60 years who left this world before her. She always made sure I was taken care of with food to eat and a warm bed to sleep. Whenever I was in need she never had a problem accommodating me. She was a fun loving spirit with many hobbies including art, needlework, computers, plants, music, etc. I can remember her ability to play music on her piano which was always present in her house. She and my grandfather would take me camping and fishing and to the movies as a young boy. Always bestowing the wisdom of our forebears in one way or another in a kernel of advice. I learned valuable life lessons from my grandmother that i am very sure made me who I am today. I believe she was a part of the “old guard” of the type of people that you don’t find much today. People, family, good deeds, good food and a moral compass governed her life and she showed it. Having lived such a long life full of rich memories I am sad that she is no longer here but living 91 years is no easy task and she really stuck it out for the last 10 to 12 years. I am happy now that she is eternally at peace and can now rest with her husband together like they were in life. I will miss my Nan and am reminded in her passing of how short life is and that all you really have in the end is those who care for you and those who you care for. Farewell Nan. Its been an honor to be your grandson, i wish we could do it all over again.
